The new Covid-19 cluster was detected in Kuching.

(Director-General of Health Dr. Noor Hisham Abdullah said, until 12 noon yesterday, 2 positive cases of Covid-19 were reported involving a cluster of engineering companies in Kuching.)

PETALING JAYA: The Ministry of Health (MOH) said the new Covid-19 cluster was detected at an engineering company in Kuching.

Director General of Health, Dr. Noor Hisham Abdullah said, until 12 noon this afternoon, 2 positive cases of Covid-19 were reported involving this cluster.

The first case of this cluster (case 8,694), was an employee of the company who received treatment at a medical center on July 9, 2020, when he suffered from respiratory symptoms. "He was found positive for Covid-19 on the same day," he said in his daily media statement today.

Dr. Noor Hisham said, following that, investigations and close contact screening activities were carried out. He said, so far, 32 close patient contacts have been identified and screened.
"They consist of 16 colleagues and 16 family members," he said.

Noor Hisham said the screening results found that 1 positive Covid-19, 16 negatives, and 15 cases were still awaiting results. "Preventive measures such as the cleaning and disinfection process are carried out at the company's premises.

"The cause of this cluster infection is still under investigation," he said.

Jimmy who was caught in a cycle of addiction, violence and despair had  become a heroine addict after being introduced by his mother’s live-in boyfriend.
